Returning to The Plains for a final season is one of the most recognizable faces on the Auburn University campus.

Dylan Cardwell, an Auburn center who was honored on senior night last season, made the announcement on Thursday that he would be returning to Auburn for his last year of eligibility.Following a 2023–24 campaign in which he rotated in with Johni Broome and averaged 13.6 minutes of action per game, 5.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks, Cardwell announced his return.

Cardwell’s best productive season since coming to Auburn as a freshman in 2020 was the previous one. Cardwell is from Augusta, Georgia.

Jaylin Williams, a fifth-year senior, stated in January that Dylan “is always trying to get better.” He’s not sobbing over minutes. He is going to play as hard as he can when he is out there. For all of you, that’s Dylan Cardwell.

The revelation on Thursday is noteworthy since it’s unclear if Auburn’s starting center from the previous season, Broome, will be back for his senior year.

Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl left up the idea of Broome returning during his press conference on March 28. It’s still uncertain, though, if that will happen and whether the Tigers will get back their top scorer in Broome.

Pearl and the Tigers know they have one seasoned center returning, if nothing else.
