The West Virginia University golf team shot a team score of 280 for 8-under-par in the third round, the lowest round score in its Big 12 Championship history, on Tuesday at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.

On moving day, the Mountaineers jumped three spots to fifth place (297-291-280) in the 14-team championship. The Mountaineers trail Houston by one shot for fourth place.

WVU’s score of 280 bested last year’s previous best of 281 in the Big 12 Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Kansas.

The 8-under-par marked the first time WVU has shot under par in a Big 12 Championship round.

The previous best round score vs. par was +1 in 2023 and 2016. In round three, WVU tied for the second-best score in the round at -8.

In round three, Todd Duncan led the way for WVU, shooting a 4-under-par 68, recording four birdies and an eagle on the day. He is now tied for 25th place at +3.

Max Green continues to pace WVU, shooting Even par on Tuesday. He is tied for 19th place at +2.

Jackson Davenport and Pierce Grieve each shot 2-under-par on Tuesday. Davenport is tied for 35th place at +5, while Grieve is tied for 38th place at +6.

Kaleb Wilson shot 5-over-par on Tuesday and is tied for 49th place at +9.

The fourth and final round will begin Wednesday morning. ESPN+ will have coverage from 1:30-5:30 p.m. ET during the final round.
