SAD NEWS: Cleveland Browns announced that Amari Cooper is Leaving immediately after Facing…..

During the 2017 NFL draft, nine teams passed over Patrick Mahomes before he landed with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Cleveland Browns owned the No. 1 pick and used it on Myles Garrett, but they also owned the No. 12 pick from the Philadelphia Eagles.

NBC Sports’ Peter King revealed that despite a rumor that the Browns were interested in moving up to the No. 5 pick to select Mahomes, some within the organization weren’t fans of him.

“Coach Hue Jackson told friends he loved Mahomes and [Deshaun] Watson, but Mahomes a bit more.

But this rumor turned out to be more smoke than fire,” King wrote.

“Some Browns’ officials reportedly were turned off by his mechanics, and I don’t think they were ever close to pulling the trigger to move up for him.

Of course, those officials would’ve happily overlooked any questions about Mahomes’ mechanics if they knew he would go on to become a three-time Super Bowl champion and the best quarterback of his generation.

King went on to illustrate how the Browns had a string of bad luck in drafting quarterbacks.

“Ironically, they’d picked a quarterback 93rd overall the previous year, Cody Kessler, and chose DeShone Kizer 52nd overall in 2017.

Then they probably over-drafted Baker Mayfield first overall in 2018. Cleveland was all over the map at quarterback,” King stated.

The Browns wound up landing a franchise QB when they acquired Watson from the Houston Texans, so they are surely hoping he will provide some stability at the position.

Watson will be looking to bounce back in 2024 after shoulder surgery cut his 2023 campaign short after six games.
