Aston villa has been given third chance to sign talented player from….

Nico Williams’ contract claim at Athletic Club Bilbao gives Aston Villa a third chance to secure him, after he turned them down twice.
This is according to El Correo, who explains that the winger is demanding a short-term contract and a clause that leaves him open to a future exit.
The newspaper explains that Athletic and Willis are getting closer in negotiations over the extension of his current contract, which expires next summer.
Sources close to these talks say they are progressing at a good pace and both sides hope to conclude the extension soon.
It is believed that he will sign the contract soon provided the three main issues, annual salary, contract length and leave clause, are resolved to everyone’s satisfaction.
The issue now is to find a deal that suits both sides, as Williams is asking for a short-term deal and the inclusion of a release clause that will not prevent him from leaving in the future. Currently he has a clause of 50 million euros and does not want this amount to increase too much.
Athletic are willing to accept that, knowing there is a risk of losing players for free, as they will be free to talk to clubs following Bosman’s decision in January.
And they also know there is interest, with Aston Villa being one of the clubs who have spoken to him and made it clear they are interested.

Indeed, Williams said no to them twice despite Unai Emery’s great efforts to convince him.
The Aston Villa coach tried to convince him during the January 2022 transfer window by video call and even met him in person at a hotel in Hondarribia last summer, but not successful.
However, the inclusion of a release clause makes it possible for a transfer to take place if Villa want to try it a third time.
