The US international starred as City remained unbeaten in the first six games of the campaign, scoring three goals and providing one assist in four league matches.

However, he suffered an ankle injury in the 4-0 win over Huddersfield Town and saw his teammates quickly drop to the Second Division without him.

But the 23-year-old still hopes the Norfolk side can turn things around, as he told Norwich legend Grant Holt in an interview on the club’s official channels.

On his recent performance, Holt asked Sargent: “Obviously it wasn’t a big help (Sargent and Ashley Barnes were injured).

“I won’t say we didn’t win because you weren’t in the game!
But the latest results are not the best but you need to calm down a bit, right?

“Yeah, we had some good games, some not so good games,” Sargent replied.
“So it’s been a bit weird definitely.

“But the guys are trying to do the right things, we’re trying to implement the things that (head coach David) Wagner is telling us about.

“So we just need a couple more games to get a good rhythm going, and hopefully the guys can get some good results.

” Sargent also reserved praise for the German, who oversaw his transition to playing primarily as a central striker, his favoured position.

“He’s a good guy,” he said of the 52-year-old.
“He’s quiet, but he gets along well with all the guys, so no complaints on my side.
“He knew when to attack the boys if we weren’t there that day.

” But at the same time, he knows how to say the right things and get his message across, so he’s a good guy.
“I spoke to a lot of people from Huddersfield,” Holt added.

“They really like his demeanor, the way he sounds when he says something.
He’s comfortable backstage and all that.
