Should the Detroit Lions decide to part ways with Jonah Jackson and/or Graham Glasgow, there is no shortage of guard choices available in free agency.

Today we continue our preview of the Detroit Lions free agency class with the guard position. The top three guards for the Lions, Graham Glasgow, Halapoulivaati Vaitai, and Jonah Jackson, are currently unsigned and eligible for free agency. If Detroit decides to move on from at least two of the three above, the Lions will probably sign at least one of those players back. In the meantime, let’s look at free agency options.

Dotson might be the best choice if the Lions are willing to pay big money but don’t think Jonah Jackson is the right player. However, he won’t be inexpensive. Following three mediocre seasons with the Steelers, Dotson reached a new level of success with the Rams in 2023, earning an 84.4 PFF grade. Given their current free agency situation, the Dolphins might not be able to afford Hunt, who concluded 2023 with just one QB hit and one sack allowed in 11 games. Although he began his career with the Dolphins as a right tackle, the former second-round selection has spent the last three seasons starting at right guard.
