West Virginia sign 1st draft pick along with five others selections….

Two defenders announced they were leaving the West Virginia football program on Tuesday, as cornerbackĀ Montre MillerĀ and banditĀ Brayden DudleyĀ both announced they have entered the transfer portal. Following the duo’s departure, WVU now sits at the exact 85-player maximum for scholarships for the 2024 season.

Miller ventures into the portal again after just one year in Morgantown — he joined the Mountaineers in January 2023 afterĀ a lengthy stintĀ at Kent State. Miller earned significant playing time during the season opener for WVU against Penn State this past fall,Ā recordingĀ three solo tackles. Unfortunately, an injury sidelined him for the rest of his time with the Mountaineers.

Wherever Miller lands in the portal, he will bring a sort of veteran experience that is extremely hard to come by in college football — he enters his seventh year of college football, having joined Kent State as a member of the Class of 2018. He spent five years with the Golden Flashes and exhausted three seasons of eligibility before transferring to WVU. Due to missing the 2023 season with an injury, have preserved his final year of eligibility for this fall.

Dudley, meanwhile, was a high school recruit for WVU andĀ spentĀ three seasons in Morgantown. He saw action in four games and recorded three tackles from 2021-2022. He used a redshirt season and exhausted two years of eligibility while with the Mountaineers.
