Born in 1993, the 31-year-old holds the Cardinals’ field goal record with 66.
The cause of death hasn’t been released yet, although the program released a brief statement.
The death of Wallace, who committed to Louisville in 2011, comes as a huge shock to the college football world.

John Wallace played for Louisville from 2012 until 2015 under Bobby Petrino and Charlie Strong.
He helped the Cardinals to four straight bowl appearances, which included a win in the 2013 Sugar Bowl over Florida.
He kicked a pair of field goals in the 33-23 victory over the Gators.
In 2012, Wallace was 16 of 21 and made 10 of 11 kicks to start the season with his only miss being a 57-yard attempt.
In that same year, he kicked a 30-yard field goal to give the Louisville Cardinals a 34-31 overtime win over Cincinnati.
