Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town are the latest team to be linked with Chelsea spare part Armando Broja, with local reports claiming that the two teams are “in discussions” over a potential move.
Said potential move would most likely entail a loan, at least initially. Chelsea are hoping to get £30m in exchange for the 22-year-old striker, which seems a bit optimistic for someone with 8 goals in 57 Premier League appearances thus far in his budding career — which obviously did get affected drastically by the ACL injury he suffered 18 months ago.
In a comparable move, Ipswich signed Liam Delap from Manchester City earlier this summer in a £15m deal, for example.
That said, Broja has been linked with a fair few teams this summer (Everton, Wolves, AC Milan, Vfb Stuttgart, etc), so perhaps we can maximize his transfer value.
However, things may go down to the wire, to Deadline Day, which generally isn’t the best process for that.
Broja’s currently training away from the first-team, with the rest of the undesirables.
He has four years left on his contract.
But, as we now know, it was a statement horribly wide of the mark.
More than two decades have passed since that banner was held high on Merseyside, and for most of it, we were a long way from being back.
George Burley, Joe Royle, Jim Magilton, Roy Keane, Paul Jewell, Mick McCarthy, Paul Hurst, Paul Lambert and Paul Cook.
They all tried to take us back, but three play-off semi-finals were the closest we came.
