When the Foxes won the Premier League in 2015–16, Tottenham pushed Leicester.
The team has impressed this season despite not having yet won the Premier League.
‘It’s All Kicking Off,’ a podcast from Mail Sport, has a new episode available.
Jamie Vardy, a forward for Leicester, made a surprise visit at the BBC Radio 2 in the Park festival and made fun of Tottenham fans.
Vardy, who is from Leicester and the event was held there, made an appearance on stage at the two-day festival on Sunday to introduce a DJ set from Vernon Kay.
Before the performance, he spoke to the audience and started talking about football while making a little jab at his old rivals Spurs.
“Where are the Spurs supporters?” the first
The attacker responded, “Still got no bottle,” probably making fun of Spurs after Leicester won the Premier League in 2016.
At the BBC Radio 2 in the Park festival, Leicester forward Jamie Vardy made fun of Tottenham on stage, saying they “still don’t have any bottle.”
Vardy led Leicester, which defeated Tottenham to win the 2015–16 Premier League title, with 24 goals.
Vardy contributed significantly to Leicester’s first-ever Premier League championship under Claudio Ranieri, scoring 24 league goals but narrowly losing out to Harry Kane for the Golden Boot.
Even though Tottenham may have edged Leicester in terms of scoring, the Foxes ultimately won the championship by a 10-point margin.
As Mauricio Pochettino’s team pursued their own first Premier League crown, Spurs had pushed them all the way.
However, rivals from North London Arsenal ultimately finished ahead of them, and Spurs are still waiting to win the domestic championship, while Leicester were demoted to the Championship last year.
Vardy remains a Leciester player but does not compete in the Championship, where the team is ranked second.
Tottenham has not won a trophy since that campaign, but under new manager Ange Postecoglou, they are off to a strong start this year.
Since then, Spurs have come to be associated for squandering good opportunities, like the 2019 Champions League final and the 2015–16 Premier League title challenge.
The club has had a difficult few years, missing out entirely on playing in Europe this season, but Ange Postecoglou’s team has started the league strongly.
On goal differential, they are ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal, who they play the following week, and are only second in the table behind Manchester City.
IT’S ALL GETTING STARTED!
A brand-new podcast from Mail Sport called It’s All Kicking Off promises a unique perspective on Premier League football.
