manager Daniel Farke has revealed that the 27-year-old is progressing, although he is not expected to play until the end of October.
“With Junior Firpo, yes, he is also will be back training on the other side of the international break,” Farke said ahead of tonight’s game against QPR. “So there’s no chance of him coming back.”
Former Leeds United manager Garry Monk has been linked with the Sampdoria job. The Italian side are currently second in Serie B and far from their former glory. Italian legend Andrea Pirlo is in charge, but reports in Italy suggest he is in danger of being sacked without a win in his last seven games.
Sampdoria was relegated to Serie B after finishing bottom last season with only 19 points. A consortium including former Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani bought Sampdoria from Massimo Ferrero in May, essentially saving the financially struggling club. Now former Leeds and Swansea boss Monk has been contacted by the club in case of a vacancy.
