The Las Vegas Raiders need all the help they can get to salvage their 2023-24 NFL season. Heading into their next assignment, is Jimmy Garoppolo playing vs. the Lions in Week 8?
Pegged to be the right quarterback to lead the team, injuries continue to hound the two-time Super Bowl champion play-caller.
But after missing the Raiders’ loss to the Chicago Bears, 30-12, on Sunday, October 22, Las Vegas fans got some good news on Thursday, October 27, from Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Vincent Bonsignore.
The scribe revealed that the 31-year-old QB will rejoin the Raiders at practice on Thursday. He added that should all go well, Garoppolo may be back in action when the Raiders face the Lions in Week 8.
A potential Jimmy Garoppolo return is welcome news. However, the fact remains that the 2013 Walter Payton Award winner is still struggling.
So far, Garoppolo has thrown for 1,079 yards with seven touchdowns and eight interceptions in five games.
Garoppolo suffered a back injury in the Raiders’ win over the New England Patriots 21-17 last October 15, per the Bleacher Report. He missed the team’s Week 7 matchup with the Bears.
However, pundits see him as a better option than Brian Hoyer. But as far as winning the Super Bowl, some doubt it.
Heading into their clash with the Lions, the Raiders are 8.5 underdogs per USA Today. Even with Jimmy Garoppolo returning, Raiders coach Josh McDaniels will need more players to step up.
