Coach Jarome Luai is expected to test the open NRL market on November 1, as the Panthers are yet to sign a contract beyond the end of next year following a recent management change.
The 26-year-old has been an integral part of Penrith’s success in recent seasons, helping them win three consecutive premierships and capping international appearances for NSW and Samoa.
After a three-month break in negotiations after parting ways with his former agent, Luai has now teamed up with Black Money Enterprises, the same firm that represents the likes of Latrell Mitchell and Jack Wighton.
Luai is under contract until at least the end of 2024, but players like Dylan Edwards and Liam Martin both have higher contracts, putting salary cap pressure on the NRL favorites.. It may cost.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the Panthers have offered Luai a two-year, $1..7 million contract to remain at Penrith.
The offer is an improvement over the $800,000 per season deal that was reportedly discussed in August..
“Jalome recognizes the future potential of the club,” Panthers CEO Matt Cameron said.
“He’s obviously going to garner some interest on the open market and I have no problem with him exploring all options after the first game if necessary.
” Five-Eighth tells Broncos about his future in the league and pointed out two key areas that need to be addressed.
“He had two main factors in his success or family,” Luai said.
“These are the two most important things about him that (influence) future decisions…” But it’s time to celebrate and it’s not time to worry yet.
Since appearing in the NRL decider, Luai has been plagued by a shoulder injury that kept him out and ruled him out at the end of the year.. It had been.. Pacific Championship Tournament.
Ivan Cleary told the media in August that he wanted to sign Luai to a new contract worth more than $1 million per season with a rival organization.
“There are some meetings going on in the background,” he said..
“He’s ours and we’re his,” Cleary said.
“It’s the same with a lot of our players – if he really wants to get as much money as he wants (somewhere else), he’ll probably get it.”
But I think you can think of something that would be very good for him.. ”
