The Golden State Warriors are set to face the LA Clippers on Thursday night, but they will be without starting forward Andrew Wiggins.
In their latest version of the injury report, the Warriors have listed Wiggins out with finger soreness.
Already without Chris Paul and Gary Payton II, Golden State is shorthanded in this game.
Despite having the rest advantage over a Clippers team that played last night, the Warriors will be the more shorthanded team in this game, as the Clippers are not resting any of their stars on the last half of a back to back.
The official listing for Wiggins is right finger soreness, which doesn’t sound like the type of injury that will force him to miss extended time, but this is a big-time absence for the Warriors against the Clippers team that has several dominant perimeter scorers.
While Wiggins has been up and down offensively this season, he is still Golden State’s preferred defensive option on opposing team’s number one scorer, and would have likely drawn one of the Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, or James Harden assignments in this game.
Also without Payton, who is another elite perimeter defender, this will be a tough game for the Warriors.
Just a half game separates the Warriors and Clippers in the standings right now, as both teams have underwhelmed to start the year.
