Texas A&M defensive tackle Walter Nolen once was trending toward becoming a Tennessee Volunteer, but the Knoxville native decided to head south to College Station and join the No. 1 recruiting class in history. A few years later, many of those players who entered the transfer portal, including Nolen.
He’s the No. 1 player currently in the transfer portal, according to 247Sports. There’s early murmurs about potential destinations, and the Vols were thrown into the mix considering the connections and history between the two.
Those murmurs were solidified on Wednesday afternoon when 247Sports’s Steve Wiltfong reported schools that are in the mix for Nolen.
Jordan Seaton is the biggest domino left on the board for the Vols. Amid several offensive line departures, Seaton could be a plug-and-play piece for offensive line coach Glen Elarbee. Tennessee prided itself on running the football this season, and getting another premium prospect in his group would be an added boost.
Seaton has an upcoming commitment date where he will decide among seven suitors, and, there’s murmurs floating around that the Vols are in a strong position for Seaton. Many believe the final group is Tennessee, Ohio State, and Oregon, with the Buckeyes and Vols surging in the final days.
