Let’s face it, the 2023 NFL season has not gone as expected for the Los Angeles Chargers.
After blowing a 27-0 lead to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the divisional round of the playoffs last year, the Chargers have never quite recovered.
Countless times, LA’s past has come back to haunt them as the defense has struggled time and time again to put games away this season.
Right now, the team is 5-7 and has an incredibly tough road ahead to make the playoffs playing the Denver Broncos twice, the Buffalo Bills, and Kansas City Chiefs.
If they continue to blow games, they will likely be eliminated from the playoffs and will be focusing on retooling this roster.
Moving forward, I decided to take a look at some potential players LA could add to help quarterback Justin Herbert and make sure this outcome doesn’t happen again.
After failing to put a contract together with the Cincinnati Bengals, Tee Higgins is set to hit free agency heading into his age-25 season next year.
There’s no question that the Chargers have had their struggles at wide receiver due to the injury bug as Mike Williams is out for the year due to a torn ACL and Joshua Palmer has spent time on the injured reserve.
In the first round of last year’s draft, the Chargers selected Quentin Johnston in the first round. Since then, drops have been a constant issue for the rookie catching just 26 balls on 44 targets for 242 yards and one touchdown.
Standing at six foot four inches and weighing 218 pounds, Higgins would be a perfect compliment to Allen and would make a great addition to win one one-on-ones in the red zone for LA.
Over the last two years, Higgins has been a two-time thousand-yard receiver for the Bengals and has remained a constant deep threat at the position averaging 13.8 yards per catch in his career.
