Nebraska cornhuskers have suspended a key player…

Nebraska football star Anthony Grant is suspended for the start of the team’s spring football practice, the school announced.

Grant led the Cornhuskers in rushing a year ago but is dealing with off-the-field issues coming into this season, new coach Matt Rhule said.

Rhule noted that Grant must make marked improvements in his academic career among other areas before he is allowed to return to the team.

It is expected that Grant will return to the Cornhuskers team at some point.

The native of Buford, Ga., began his college football career as a junior college transfer initially playing at Florida State.

Grant led Nebraska with 218 rushing attempts, adding 915 yards on the ground, and compiling six rushing touchdowns last season.
