Four injured stars should return for Brisbane next week, according to Kevin Walters, but not before the team has to overcome a formidable and in-form Canberra team.

Prop Payne Haas (knee), winger Deine Mariner (back), captain Adam Reynolds (hamstring), and second-rower Brendan Piakura (ankle) are all expected to be healthy for the round-eight match against Wests Tigers, according to Walters, who won the first of his six NRL premierships as a Raider in 1989.

“(Haas) will be right for next week,” Walters declared prior to the Raiders’ visit on Saturday night.

“I’m excited that Adam is running well and will be ready for next week.

“They are well coached, have some really good players in their group and have had a good start to the season, but we’re up for the challenge,” Walters stated.

“Some of the best Raiders-Broncos games from the 1990s come to mind, and this one won’t be any different. We are excited about the contest, especially with our forwards. It will be fantastic.

“Canberra have a tough side and are very gritty, so it will be a good experience for our fellas.”
