Last year, fifth overall pick Devon Witherspoon held out, forcing the Seattle Seahawks to wait until the third day of training camp to sign their draft class.

This year has been free of any such issues.

Michael Jerrell, a tackle selected by the Seahawks with their final pick in the 2024 draft (207th overall in the sixth round), was signed to a rookie contract on Friday.

With more than two months until training camp starts, it means that all eight members of the Seahawks’ rookie class have signed their contracts.

Despite not playing last season, Witherspoon proved his versatility as a cornerback, having the best rookie season of any player in Seattle’s 2023 draft class.

Actually, the Seahawks’ rookie class from the previous season was quite lackluster, with the exception of Witherspoon.

After their first draft with Mike MacDonald as head coach, they will be hoping that does not turn out to be the case this year.

Seattle has great expectations for this group of rookies, but they are mostly focused on Christian Haynes, the guard, and defensive tackle Byron Murphy II more than Jerrell.

The Seahawks selected former UConn lineman Haynes in the third round of the draft for a steal; he should be a plug-and-play. Murphy was the second defensive player taken out of the draft.

first choice for the right guard position.

Tyrice Knight, a linebacker, may end up being a value selection in the fourth round, according to Seattle. Although it was stated that the Seahawks had a fourth-round grade on both Auburn corners Nehemiah Pritchett and D.J. James, they selected them in the fifth and sixth rounds, respectively.

Murphy’s performance will determine the Seahawks’ 2024 draft selection, but they have good reason to think they have identified a number of impact players. Now that every member of it is under contract, the Seahawks can take a short break with confidence.
