Former Detroit Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew got himself into some legal trouble on Sunday after an alleged incident that took place at a convenience store in Texas.
According to police, via TMZ, Pettigrew became aggressive during an argument with authorities at a Dallas 7-Eleven at 2 a.m. Sunday morning before allegedly throwing a punch at the front door that broke the glass. It isn’t clear what started the argument.
Authorities pulled tasers on the former NFL tight end but did not use them, per the report. He was arrested without further incident and charged with criminal mischief. The 39-year-old was released from custody around 1 p.m. the same day.
This is the third time Pettigrew has been arrested, per TMZ. In 2017, he was arrested for his alleged role in a disturbance at a bar, and in 2018 he was arrested for allegedly hitting a police officer.
A former first-round pick of the Lions in 2009, Pettigrew spent seven seasons with the franchise, accumulating 301 receptions for 2,965 yards and 17 touchdowns. He last played a snap in 2015.
Before his stint with the Lions in the NFL, Pettigrew played his college ball at Oklahoma State, where he finished his collegiate career with 112 catches for 1,450 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

Peoples-Jones has been productive in his career before, with two consecutive 590-plus yard receiving campaigns with the Cleveland Browns in 2021 and 2022. However, in 15 total games a season ago (with the Browns and the Lions), the Detroit Cass Tech High School product secured just 13 receptions for 155 yards, including a measly five catches for 58 yards with Detroit.
