End Of An Era: About a minute ago Michael Jordan and Team members Bubba Wallace, Riley Herbst, Tyler Reddick announce departing from NASCAR and Reason why…..
The two teams are locked in a bitter dispute with NASCAR over its new charter agreement, and according to insiderย Bob Pockrass, both 23XI Racing and FRM mustย win an injunction for the sale of the charters from Stewart-Haas Racingย to go through while their lawsuit against the governing body continues.
A judge could rule against the two teams’ request,ย leaving two Cup Series charters up for grabs for eligible teamsย on the grid.
SHR may potentially have to lease the charters to other teams for the year, with both 23XI Racing and FRM set to compete in the Cup Series as open teams and not charter teams.
NASCARย says theย charter agreement is off the tableย for 23XI and Front Row, but that could change should the governing body change its mind and re-offers their two charters.
Jordan’s 23XI Racing has already named its third driver for 2025, with rookie Riley Herbst getting the nod to make a full-time step up to the Cup Series, while FRM took on Noah Gragson, who raced at SHR in 2024.
Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racingย are two NASCAR teams that have four charters, while the rest have a maximum of three.
