Dylan Sampson claimed another Tennessee football record with his 21st touchdown this season against Georgia on Saturday.

That tied Sampson with Gene McEver for the most TDs overall in a single season in Vols history.

Sampson had already broken McEver’s record for rushing TDs in a season, and he now has 21 rushing TDs.

In 1929, McEver scored 18 rushing TDs and 21 TDs overall en route to the College Football Hall of Fame.

Sampson tied the record with a 27-yard TD run late in the second quarter to put Tennessee ahead 17-14 over Georgia.

Tennessee has two regular-season games remaining (UTEP, Vanderbilt) plus the postseason to give Sampson a shot at more records.

He could get within reach of these other significant UT and SEC marks.

Iowa fans are known for traveling well, and Ferentz thinks this year will be no different, even though the Hawkeyes went to the Music City Bowl just two seasons ago.
