Detroit Lions quarterback Teddy Bridgewater won’t be on an NFL sideline next fall.

The 31-year-old veteran, who said in December that he planned to retire after the 2023 season, is reportedly beginning a new career in coaching.

According to SBLiveSports’ Andy Villamarzo, Bridgewater has been named the next head coach at Miami Northern High School – his alma mater. A first-round pick of the Vikings in the 2014 NFL Draft, Bridgewater spent the first three years of his professional football career in Minnesota before landing with the Saints in 2018.

Following a two-year stint in New Orleans, Bridgewater joined the Panthers for one season in 2020. Then, in 2021, the former Louisville quarterback landed in Denver. One year later, he joined the Dolphins.

Signed by Detroit this past offseason, Bridgewater appeared in just one game for the Lions in 2023.

We wish him the best of luck as he enters the next stage of his careerp
