Following a 2022 campaign where they made the playoffs for the first time since 2016, the New York Giants’ 2023 season was one to forget, as they finished with six or fewer wins for the sixth time in the last seven years.
That didn’t deter players from rating the Giants as one of the best-run organizations across the league, according to a NFL players association survey that was released Wednesday.
Out of 32 teams, the Giants ranked eighth overall from a handful of grades that were based on multiple categories ranging from treatment of players and their families, to players’ thoughts on the food/cafeteria to an overview on the front office and head coach Brian Daboll, who received an A- grade.
The first item that deserves recognition is the work by the team’s training staff,” the report stated, “as players gave high marks to long-time head trainer Ronnie Barnes, with 96% of players responding that they receive an adequate amount of one-on-one treatment time, which ranks 1st in the NFL.”
One area where players feel the Giants need to improve on should be no surprise, which is the current playing surface at MetLife Stadium.
“Giants players almost unanimously responded that they do not like playing on the synthetic surface, in line with our 92% number league-wide.
Responding players commented that they believe the surface puts them at additional risk of injury.
