Kevin Zeitler’s Free Agent Exit Leaves Ravens With An Easy Fix
Many teams wouldn’t want to lose two interior offensive lineman, but the Baltimore Ravens have a simple fix for both of those holes in their lineup.
The Baltimore Ravens are in a better position than most teams to replace some of their best players in the upcoming month.
The Ravens need a starting guard in both spots now that Kevin Zeitler and John Simpson have left to join other teams. The organization shouldn’t give up even though the free agency beginning market is getting smaller.
This is due to the offensive line, especially the tackle and guard classes, being the top position group through the 2024 NFL Draft. Effective players who could be taken in the first three rounds include Troy Fautanu, Cooper Beebe, Christian Haynes, and Christian Mahogany. All of these players are starters.
The Ravens might locate a strong starter at the position without having to pay a premium on the free market if they have two selections in the top 64 overall picks. Any one of those four possible players would be an instant “plug-and-play” offensive lineman that the team could rely on to start the 2024 campaign.
The Ravens could uncover elite talent outside of the Draft as well. Even if veterans like Cody Whitehair, Andrus Peat, and Laken Tomlinson are coming off bad seasons, the Ravens have the capacity to develop prospects, so they might be a great value at every position.
In less than a month, the Ravens offensive line may go from a group of players with needs to one of the more talented ones in the NFL with the arrival of a free agency like Tomlinson and a draft pick like Fautanu.
Even if Zeitler and Simpson’s losses are still felt deeply, the Ravens have every opportunity to change that in the upcoming days and weeks.
