“I AM LEAVING”: Kentucky announced the departure resignation of Justin Edwards today….
In the 2024 NBA Draft, Justin Edwards could be a classic Kentucky riser.
With Justin Edwards available in the 2024 NBA Draft, some may choose to reconsider the selection in subsequent redrafts, or he may be a late riser from Kentucky in the pre-draft process.

As June approaches, perhaps history will help shape the draft board given the uncertainties surrounding the 2024 NBA Draft. There would be 50 wildly divergent responses on their large board from top to bottom if you polled 50 assessors. Although many consider this to be a mediocre class, the production of high-end players could compensate for the absence of pure star power in the 2024 NBA Draft class.
After a poor year at Kentucky, some of Justin Edwards’ once star potential faded, but the 6-foot-7 forward for the Wildcats has on-ball talent and should be a pick to be taken in the NBA Draft.
Edwards, who is only 20 years old, can start an offensive possession with the ball in his hands, igniting a transition, eclipsing the defense, using screens to get into the scoring zone, and finishing at the rim with a high percentage of 62 percent from the field.
At worst, his catch-and-shoot percentage of 38 percent indicates that he can be an NBA instant play-finisher who converts catch-and-shoot opportunities while continuously moving to create space for himself to score at the rim immediately.
Edwards has the potential to be a creative player and, like other Kentucky initiators, he might succeed in the NBA after being overlooked in college. He had enough flashes amid a crowded Wildcat rotation of ball handlers.
He can affect games with his ability to leap up for rebounds and switch defenses, but more importantly, he can stay on the court while given opportunities to improve.
Edwards should be given serious consideration by any team in the 2024 Draft that has a strong track record of improvement in the G League. With the combine and in-person workouts still to come, there’s a chance that this Wildcat can crack the top 30.
