Former Buccaneers’ defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has found a new home after signing with the Miami Dolphins.
Almost exactly two weeks ago to the day former Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Super Bowl winning defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul signed with their NFC South rival the New Orleans Saints. Pierre-Paul was signed to their practice squad but was elevated to the full 53-man roster for a single game.
Things will be taking another positive turn for the almost 35-year old as it appears he will be finding a home for the remainder of the season as the Miami Dolphins are expected to sign JPP off of the Saints’ practice squad to their 53-man roster following the gruesome achilles tear that their edge Jaelan Phillips suffered this past Sunday according to Ian Rapoport.
Pierre-Paul is now a 13-year NFL veteran and his best days are most likely behind him from his time with the New York Giants and then the revitalization of his career in Tampa Bay, but one thing is for certain when it comes to JPP, he will bring tenacity, passion, and hard work every day and that is something that is coveted in the NFL and obviously, something the Dolphins seem to also still see.
JPP’s most productive seasons came during the 2011 and 2014 seasons while he was with the New York Giants. In both years he recorded double-digit sacks and in 2011 he was selected First Team All-Pro. Pierre-Paul is also a three-time Pro Bowl selection and won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020.
Pierre-Paul got into one game this season with the New Orleans Saints mustering only two tackles. His last season seeing the field for more than half of a season came last year with the Baltimore Ravens where he started 13 – compiling 26 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, and an interception.
