The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have another win, and with it, they’re right back in the thick of things.
The Bucs won their game against the Carolina Panthers 21-18 on Sunday, moving to 5-7 on the year and one game back from a share of the division lead with the Atlanta Falcons (who the team will play next week).
It was a grueling win, but it came off some hot performances by players like Mike Evans and some performances that weren’t quite as stellar.
Here are Bucs Wire’s studs and duds from Tampa Bay’s victory over one of its NFC South Rivals in Week 13:
Forget that he got 1,000 yards again — Evans was a monster. He caught 7 passes for 162 yards and a touchdown on Sunday, bringing him up to 91 all-time and extending his trademark streak to boot.
He accounted for almost half of the offense in Week 13, and the Bucs rode his performance to a much-needed victory. 2023 has been one of Evans’ best years of his career, and he proved just why on Sunday.
We’ll start this off by saying that Mayfield deserves a little bit of leeway for the rain that came down in the first half, but this was a performance to forget. He completed just 48% of his passes and continued to miss on the deep ball, the worst aspect of his game so far this season.
He also had a ball slip out of his hands for a pick and had some good fortune with Mike Evans, who had a 75-yard touchdown on yards after catch. Somewhat understandable given the weather, but a game is a game.
What can’t Winfield Jr. do? He netted a sack among his eight combined tackles and also got a crucial interception on a fourth down late in the game to live up to his nickname of Takeaway Tweeze. Winfield Jr. is still playing like an All-Pro this year and this was another fantastic game from him.
The Bucs pass rush got three sacks on Sunday, but Tryon-Shoyinka wasn’t a stunning performer. Not only did he manage just one solo tackle, but he also caused a facemask penalty during Carolina’s two-point conversion that eventually moved the ball up and led to a successful try.

McCollum is getting more playing time than he should be due to an injury to Jamel Dean, and he is unfortunately showing why. He gets frequently beat in coverage and can often seem lost during plays, and Sunday’s matchup was no exception.
