Norwich have endured an inconsistent season, but remain in the Championship play-off picture heading into their midweek match-up against a resurgent Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls are marooned in the Championship’s relegation places, but are unbeaten in their last three, drawing 1-1 with leaders Leicester before beating Blackburn 3-1 and then triumphing 1-0 at Stoke on Saturday.
Unheralded boss Danny Rohl is clearly doing something right at Hillsborough and there are undoubtedly similarities between himself and opposite number David Wagner, who also arrived in England as a relative unknown.
Wagner’s role has been in the spotlight in recent months, but his team have also found some form, winning three of their last five and Wednesday’s game looks like a real chance to keep the pressure on those above them.
Jon Rowe is expected to return to the left wing, with Adam Idah favoured to lead the line.
Wednesday boss Rohl may decide to stick with the XI who won at Stoke, although Anthony Musaba could come into contention after netting the winner in the Potteries.
Teenager Bailey Cadamarteri could also start up front after scoring in the victory over Blackburn, but Dominic Iorfa (leg), Mallik Wilks (muscle) and Momo Diaby (leg) are all sidelined.
The Canaries sit 13th in the Championship at the time of asking, but that is just three points adrift of the top six.
Wednesday have won their last two games and are unbeaten in three, however, their victory at Stoke was their first away win of the season.
Norwich have won three of the last four meetings, with both teams scoring in the last three of those games.
Wednesday really look to be motoring and Rohl, a name few had heard of in Britain before his appointment, appears to be a coach with a sparkling future.
The 34-year-old quickly got his ideas across, building a spirit lacking under his predecessor, Xisco Munoz.
Saturday’s win at Stoke marked the fourth game in a row that they have found that net and, while the Owls are still the lowest scorers in the division, recent evidence suggests that Rohl’s young frontline should test the Canaries.
However, Norwich have also found some rhythm and, while they were frustrated against Preston, that was self-inflicted as they failed to net despite having 18 shots.
They will surely be sharper in front of goal on Wednesday and an entertaining game beckons, but the points could stay in Norfolk.
