La Liga President Javier Tebas affirmed that moving to Real Madrid is “fate” for Kylian Mbappé.
As things stand, Mbappé is expected to become a free agent in the summer of 2024. His failure to renew his contract with PSG has so far led to speculation that the Frenchman could may be on his way to Liverpool.
And yet, the smart money will still be on Mbappé in Madrid. Speaking to Movistar Plus via The Mirror, Tebas echoed this view. When asked if he was confident the striker would wear white next season, the 61-year-old said he was “70-80 per cent” certain.
“Convinced, convinced, no. But it’s destiny for him, that’s for sure,” Tebas replied. “Next year, the number will be more than 70 to 80 percent.”
As always with Mpbapp, there are plenty of twists and turns before we know where he will play next season.
Initially, refusing to commit to PSG seemed to give him a one-way ticket out of Paris this summer. But after rejecting the offer from Al Hilal, Kylian remained.
In the past, the rifts in the relationship between Mbappé and his club have been mended. Having brought him back into the team, PSG boss Luis Enrique will be hoping for another example of that. Until the World Cup winner signs on the dotted line, there are no guarantees.
If Mbappé does not entrust his future to the French champion, his arrival at the Bernabeu is inevitable. As Tebas hinted, it seems likely that the £166 million player will one day play for Madrid.
With no transfer fee to pay, this seems like the perfect time for this to happen.
However, Liverpool still seems to be somewhat in a state of disarray. The Red Devils have always been touted as a potential destination for Mbappe, with the player himself said to be keen on moving to Anfield.
So, with Liverpool hoping to return to the Champions League, they will probably clear that 20-30% of doubts. We won’t hold our breath, but you never know.
